So let's keep playing it safe until the payday comes?

The Racket Squad: Cashing Out Canelo?

There can be little progress if the Ginger Promoters plan is to run out the clock and hope that Floyd takes this challange.

Martinez has the depth to confuse and conflict such a young fighter.
Cotto has the heart to upset the Saul ship and win rounds perceived even.

Alvarez needs the one tough test he has avoided to prepare for any jump in class.

From Lopez to any of the above mentioned is just cashing out before the truth can be discovered regarding his lack of credibility.
He wishes to feast on the older, wiser and more talented names of the last decade or longer.

Bad form unless the plan is to let The Golden Egg break before it can get rolling long term.

Canelo might as well. Mayweather has stated that Canelo should gain more experience, but it's not like Ortiz had much experience when Floyd fought him. Ortiz had one good win (against Berto who was also unproven) and he fought him. Canelo arguably poses a bigger threat than Ortiz and generates more $$$.

Like usual, the ball is in Mayweather's court. Rarely does he make reckless choices when it comes to match-making.

Canelo/Pac/Martinez.....which one will it be Floyd?

I think it is a smart move. It's obvious that gbp is ready to start making money with Canelo. Putting up against someone before he can fight those guys is too much risk plus he'll take too much unnecessary criticism for not fighting a top guy. Plus they know that if he is fighting Floyd, he will be in promotions for 6 months and won't really have a chance to rest. Especially if fights another top guy in sept he really won't be able to rest at all.

This kid doesn't deserve a fight with Floyd, he has done nothing in the sport other than being a rarity amongst boxers from Mexico, beating old men and out weighting the competion by 25+ pounds doesn't give him the right for that, and by the way he have to fight the winner of Lara-Vanes next, are they ducking already?

Too long of a break for a guy who just admitted that he is still learning every day. It's not like in his last fight he was in a war that he needs such a long break.

Also, needs a step up fight in quality of opponents.

he's supposed to face lara/vanes winner in 2013,my guess is that fight will be in sept of 2013,first he will face cotto in may or mayweather who we all know are better and bigger(financially, way bigger) than facing either of those mandatories...i kind of understand him not fighting in december because it will be only 2 ½ months since his last fight, even though it was an easy fight you still go through the training and your body does need the rest, maybe early january would have been good, but may is kind of too long i guess, those saying he doesn't deserve a fight with mayweather maybe, but mayweather is always saying he wants to fight guys who bring in money, ratings and we know canelo is one of them, everybody wants mayweather, everybody and floyd is the one choosing,he'll say yes or no,so if this fight does get made and nobody likes it i really believe that would be on mayweather,he's the one who can choose, pick who he wants,he always says that,so we cant blame canelo or anyone else for wanting this fight, floyd has the last say on this

exactly, nobody in their right mind would think vanes/lara have accomplished more or are more dangerous than cotto or mayweather and what fight do you think people would rather see, canelo vs cotto or canelo vs vanes??...lol,the question itself is even funny...people are always looking for excuses, even if canelo were to fight cotto and beat him and then beat winner of lara/vanes people will still cry about something, just watch
