The reason why he is a top ppv draw he's willing to fight anybody.Fans don't have to worry about him holding out on a fight.

This is a great fight for me, Martinez is good, has been on a great streak and fought the best where possible.

But Cotto is another level, Cotto would be by far the best Martinez would've faced, and Cotto brings a whole host of problems for Martinez.

I really could see Cotto fighting Sergio at 154 or a 157 CW in June, and Canelo could end up fighting Berto. I'm fine with that though.

co-sign bro, i'd rather watch two proven fighters both at an older age and stage of their careers than see one older fighter square off with a younger, up and coming kid. plus, alvarez needs to prove himself at LMW first. the wbc said alvarez will have to fight the winner of lara/martirosyan in 2013. but they didn't specify when in 2013. so i assume they fight someone like maidana in december and then get ready for that fight. but since we know money talks i could see the wbc bending their rules and letting alvarez fight cotto first in 2013 rather than the winner of lara/martirosyan. we'll see what happens. but man oh man, this fight (cotto/martinez) is the number 1 fight i want to see happen next year. hopefully it does.

Cotto on a difernet level? he got blasted by a midget. He loses every big fight he is in. Martinez fights monsters at Middle. He will blast Cotto out of the ring. Martinez is the true middle weight champion of the world and has not fought, but has beaten more p4p fighters then Cotto, Martinez moved to 160 because no one would fight him there. Canelito or Cotto would lose and lose badly to Martinez, Cotto is a great fighter but come on man

well fair enough you see it that way. I just think Cotto is too much for Martinez. I like Sergio and he's fought bigger guys, but at 154 him and Cotto would a 50/50 fight.

I give it to Cotto (obviously that could change post-Trout) just because I think Cotto might be too well rounded and could cut off Martinez's movement alot more effectively than Chavez Jr. and wear Martinez down over the rounds like JCCJr didn't.

I'm torn on this one. Never been as conflicted about a fight as this. If Cotto wins he's ATG of this era, in my book.

The appropriate fight is Canelo, considering his team will want him to take the easier bigger money fight. Don't get me wrong Canelo isn't easy, and he wont get chump change for Martinez, I just feel his team will think Canelo is the better fight.

TBH Cotto has reached that stage where he's given us so many great fights and always fought the best that I wont hate on him for doing what's right for himself in terms of money and health.
