Comments Thread For: Virgil Hunter on Khan-Hatton Clash, Training Amir, More

Amir Khan’s new trainer Virgil Hunter has told WBN that a domestic battle between the former unified light-welterweight champion and the returning Ricky Hatton is a possibility in the future.

Hunter, who also trains super-middleweight king Andre Ward, takes the reigns from Freddie Roach in December for Khan’s first fight since his crushing loss to Danny Garcia in the summer as the Bolton man faces Carlos Molina in California.

The current Trainer of the Year was sought out by Khan following his arduous split from Roach and Hunter believes he has pin-pointed some of Khan’s wrongdoings, which have led to back-to-back defeats for the Briton. [Click Here To Read More]

I kinda feel bad for Virgil. After a couple years of training Khan and watching him get KTFO every other fight, his reputation as a trainer will suffer.

Hunter seems OK, let's hope he remains that way. A lot of boxers have left Roach for similar reasons to Khan, it was bound to happen sooner or later, he's just not a particularly good coach.

Advise for Virgil Hunter: Do not match Khan against a puncher.

I would advise Hunter to be careful; you don't want to hurt Khan's ego. Khan has had so many people blow smoke up his ass that any 'insult' to his pedigree could cause tension in the camp.

just a thought - you know how you can get the cartilidge stuff in your nose taken out if it keeps getting bust, well could khan have his problems solved by having his lower jaw removed?
it's a little crazy but it might just work!!!!
