    Oh, Jorge Linares.......

what has happened to you since that beautiful win against Larios. Looked good last night but the once can't miss kid just doesn't seem like he will live up to that potential. Sucks because that jab and straight right is oh so beautiful.

hes high on talent and low on substance. just the way it happens sometimes. he'll probably never recover from those beatings he took.

Linares is insanely talented, but his durability and lack of resilience will most likely stop him from becoming an elite level fighter.

i mentioned in this for the chat for the ... river... i was watching last night : he's about 85% of a terrific fighter. the rest is missing.

that guy he fought last night has been stopped six times and has 18 losses. he was 37... linares face still looked jacked up (some of that is biology, but the guy still takes too many punches.) a boxer who lives up to the praise that he's been given wouldn't let that guy put a glove on him.

This here just about sums up the downfall of Linares.

I think he has some pretty flashy combos, not just the 1-2. He does some good body work as well.

he's a very well trained boxer. if all you had to do was shadowbox he'd be top fighter. along those lines he's very talented and well schooled. a knowledgable boxing mind will acknowledge both linares weaknesses, and his strengths.

he also looks to be slowing down / losing some of his coordination at this stage. he has taken a good amount of punishment, including a late stoppage by demarco (in a high contact and two way fight,) and being knocked completely senselss by salgado.

the only time he looks spectacular is in the gym and against the right type of professional opponents.

he certainly won't amount to anything, and he was overhyped, but there was a good amount of talent to be excited about early in his career.

People fall too much in love with flashy combos and pretty offense. Same thing with Canelo. All people see is an offensive fighter and call him talented. Sorry but a talented fighter for me is a well all around boxer. I like the guy cause I like styles like his. Not saying he fights like Morales but I love the way Morales fights too. Im a sucker for those type of styles. :boobies:
