Those guys are better competition than anything Hatton fought. Bailey is way stronger puncher than Hatton and Cotto manage very well that fight.

Styles makes fight. But 140 Cotto from 2004, when he was training seriously and partying less, takes Hatton and TKO him in 10 rds. Hatton is one of the most overated fighters of this era. I know the Brits love him, but he wasnt that good. His best W is a past Kotsa and you guys make him unbeatable at that weight.
Hate to break it to ya, but Cotto's best wins were against past prime opponents.

Cotto went to the body very well back then. And so did Hatton.

This would have been a war and it's a damn shame we didn't get to see it.

Prime Hatton beats 140 Cotto... 140 wasn't Cotto's best weight by far... Hatton Rocks and finishes a 140 Cotto... At 147 its a whole different story....

140 was a bad weight for Cotto...

What for? Most people consider his best win Mosley. Mosley against Cotto was past his best, but after his destruction of Margarito he climb the P4P list and was consider the best WW (because Floyd was on vacation). I am not going to argue and go back and forward. Also some people think Cotto lost against Mosley and Clottey. So I'm not going to revise what everyone already argue.

Like I said before, if you think so, good for you.

They could have fought at 140. However, the problem at the time was that both fighters were being protected by promoters from any serious competition. Both fighters had a chance to fight Mayweather at 140. Mayweather asked for a fight with Hatton in what would have been his first fight at 140. However, Hatton's promoter said that he wasn't ready for Mayweather (basically the same thing Oscar de la Hoya said about Alvarez after more than 40 fights and a championship belt), even though Hatton had spent his entire career at 140 and had 32 fights at the time and Mayweather was two fights removed from 130.

Mayweather also called out Cotto, but after watching Mayweather manhandle and KO Henry Brussels, a Cotto clone, and Arturo Gatti, Bob Arum and Cotto's management said no way were they going to put him in the ring with Mayweather. If they had met, I think the fight would have been a toss up because neither one was very good at the time. However, Cotto got better while Hatton didn't, so I guess I would give the edge to Cotto.

A non noob who actually followed boxing more than 5 years ago. Yes, both fighters management openly stated they were not ready for floyd when floyd was at 140. You get all of these ****** noobs moaning that floyd fought hatton at 147, well floyd tried to fight hatton when they were both at 140 and hatton "wasnt ready" according to his own trainer. Floyd went up and became lineal at 147.

Also Cotto was ringside for Floyd-Gatti and the announcers are even saying do you think cotto is going to want to fight floyd now.

That only proves how bad this forum is.

No one remembers Hatton in his glory, only in defeat.
