Jermain Taylor might of not been the best ever or an ATG but I'll say it MF proudly to of been a fan of his for years. If only Floyd had half the balls Taylor did.

      Good champion, that's it.

Could've been much more if he didn't fall off so hard. I mean, he could've won belts at 160 or 168 and been involved in some great fights but I just cannot understand what went wrong for him.

Jermain Taylor's success was the product of his youth and therefore reflexively his strength and quickness. Once he started taking damage and slowing down he was a sitting duck. He never had the skills nor the technique to make it last for very long. Too flatfooted, too mechanical, too repetitive.

I thought it was crazy to see him rise to the top, then fall pretty fast. Really think those Hopkins fights took something from him. He had a few fights where I thought he definitely should have won (the first Pavlik fights comes to mind & the Froch fight), but ended up losing. Then seeing him get knocked out by Abraham and exiting the Super 6 kinda ******.

What are your thoughts on his career overall?
He was better than he gets credit for. The first Pavlik fight destroyed his confidence though.

He had plenty of technical flaws and relied a lot on athleticism, but that's not really a knock on him. He was world class because of his athleticism, so what? He was still better than everyone at middle for a short time and almost beat Froch, which looks better in hindsight.

Good assessment aside from the "last very long" comment; don't forget he was twice knocked out in the 12th, and once in the 7th.

had the most classic ringwalk in the first hops fight with phil collins playing. Excellent script. i feel he under achieved as his reign was short like leprechauns. with his athleticism, i think he could have done tons more but he simply wasnt a smart fighter and it cost him.

smoger is one of the only refs that has never had a premature stoppage or bad calling for a fight, so not sure where or why you are going with this...

Great athlete, solid boxer, was willing to fight ANYONE. Much respect to him, the first fight with Pavlik was one of the more exciting and entertaining fights i've seen at that level.
