Why didn't Wlad avenge his loss to Sanders?

Sanders would've tapped dat ass again and Wlad knew it.

Just imagine what a prime Sanders could've done to him, probably would've ended his career.

Wlad fighting him again shortly after would have resulted in more of what already happened, Wlad developed the style he has now with which he could have possibly beaten Sanders long after Sanders was a viable fighter and the rematch would have meant anything.

Wladimir simply wasn't ready for that rematch. His confidence was cracked and there were cracks in his style as well. Ultra-talented but needed to be rebuilt. Under Manny Steward, he did just that. By the time, Wlad was ready to roll, Sanders was long gone from the scene. Truthfully, he was already out the door when the two squared off and had Wladimir fought a little differently in the first, he would've found out what his brother discovered a year later: Sanders was the white Shane Mosley, two rounds and done.

Wladimir redeemed himself by facing his demons though. It's rarely talked about but his 2005 performance against Samuel Peter was one hell of a display of heart, determination, power and skill. Peter was still reasonably in shape, young and very confident. Dropped Wlad three times but, by the end of that fight, the transformation was complete. Wladimir was a new fighter--it's been seven years and he hasn't looked back.

The real answer to your question is Volodymyr was the #1 mandatory for Sanders's WBO belt and tried to have the rematch but Sanders got the oppertunity to fight Vitali for the WBC and RING Titles so he obviously took that fight instead.

Because Wlad knew it would be the same result, no need to end his career early. How many times does a fighter come back to win against that kind of blowout? Pretty much never.

Sanders relinquished his WBO belt because the WBC promised him a shot at the WBC #1, Vitali. Sanders also entered into a long-time legal fight with Wlad's promoter Universum as Sanders tried to get around the options Universum had on him, hence a rematch never happened.

Wlad that fought Sanders is not the same fighter he is now. He didn't have defense at all - he was much more aggressive prior to Emanuel. That aggression doesn't cope well with the average chin Wlad has.

I also think that Sanders was a tremendous puncher and those punches he landed on Wlad would have dropped just about any HW. Vitali on the other hand could be more aggressive as he has an exceptional chin and not even Sanders power was enough to drop him with the single or double punch.

This version of Wlad (or post Peter version) would easily beat Sanders but Corrie would always have a puncher chance but I don't think he would be able to land anything clear enough on this improved (mainly defense) Wlad.

So prior to Peter fight Corrie would have a good chance to beat Wlad again, after that's unlikely. I am talking about prime Sanders but at the time Wlad developed himself Corrie was already past his prime.

Brewer was through when Wlad rematched him. Careful matchmaking is the key here. They learned well from the loses unlike alot of fighters that keep making the same mistakes hoping something will be different.

Emmanuel dreaded putting Wlad in with punchers.
