I think Martinez was about 167-168, while Chavez was late 180s. Chavez refused to weigh in on fight night, and I don't think he's been criticized enough for that shameful act.

Sampson's son tweeted that Sergio rehydrate to 165lbs on fight night. Jr looked bigger than I've ever seen him, I'd guess 183-185 lbs.

Thomas Hauser said Martinez was was 167 using the unofficial HBO scale.

At HBO’s request, Martinez went next-door to be weighed on “the unofficial HBO scale.” Chavez refused a similar request. Sergio had gained eight pounds since the weigh-in. The assumption was that Julio would enter the ring at close to 180.

I heard Lampley say the weight and he said that Chavez refused to get weighed fight night.

I figure by the end of this thread consensus will be that Sergio was about 191 and Jr was in the 215lb range by fight night.

If you think a fighter making 160 the morning before their fight rehydrates over 30lbs you don't know what your talking about. To rehydrate to that number then loose a normal amount of fluids over the course of a fight will have your body in fits! First off its about 85% fluids their dealing with very little poundage (4 to 6lbs) will be from solid meals but they should be eating 5 small meals after the weigh in then atleast 3 if not 4 as the next days intake with the smaller meals leading up to the bout!
A 160lb build like Sergio who says he makes weight easily should add 8 to 11 pounds from weigh in to the bout and release atleast 7 to 9 pounds during the fight!
Junior I'd guess would go to 175 maybe 77 anymore than that puts his body in jepardy to perform, you can't add that much and be able to function in the ring, doesn't happen that way! If he did add more than that than he needs to fight at 168 or 175 and get more realistic to what the human body can endure. We saw Dawson inept against Ward and some of that was from the weight restrictions and I'd guess that Junior was dealing with that same problem. However eating a ham sandwich couldn't teach Junior to jab so its a BS anyways!!! Within a 35 to 40 hour period (weighin till 2 hours before the bell rings) anyone adding 2o to 35 pounds of weight on even if the majority are fluids and thinks they can peform at a high level is risking alot!!
I've dealt with strict weighins in Amatuer Tourneys were a fighter weighs in daily and I've overseen fly and superfly world championships when a peice of dust was removed from a scale to earn a 115lb weighin and I can tell you that anyone abusing the scales to a 20 to 30 pound flux is a fool!
