And the fight of the year goes to...

the year 2012 had many top quality fights, almost too many to count and some producing an eye catching spectacle while others were just down right disgraceful. i'm trying to compile a list of fights that took place this year as a potential winner for fight of the year. i have high expectation on the upcoming pacquiao vs. marquez IV fight and i, for one, cannot wait to enjoy the show.

in terms of accelerating action, which fight did/will not disappoint?

    1. Mayweather vs. Cotto
    2. Ward vs. Dawson
    3. Salido vs. Lopez II
    4. Chavez, Jr. vs. Martinez
    5. Donaire vs. Nishioka
    6. Haye vs. Chisora
    7. Matthysse vs. Ajose
    8. Pacquiao vs. Marquez IV

Maidana-Karass was definitely one of the funnest fights of the year as long as it lasted.

Most of those fights were kinda 1sided so Ill go with Mayweather-Cotto or Salido-Juanma II.

Martinez-Chavez Jr. in terms of drama.

But hold onto your horses cats, Donaire-Nishioka will be fireworks.

Froch vs Bute. But that is one very biased opinion!

          I love the cobra!

On Oct. 13 we will have two potential fights of the year. I'll make my pick after that.

I won't make an official pick yet, but I will say that I found Matthysse vs Ajose entertaining. Both dudes were landing good, clean punches. Matthysse landing the harder shots of course. I also liked Mayweather vs Cotto.

Out of the list, Salido vs Juanma II nothing is even close to that one. It was action-packed from the start and it continued to be that way almost every minute of every round.

Matthysse vs Ajose was good but it was one sided.

Agreed. I actually banked on Juanma to pull that one out. There are still some really good fights coming up though.
