CRAIG WEBER TO FIGHT FOR IBA TITLE !
" Raging " Craig Weber of Perrysville, Ohio will meet old foe Rogelio
Castaneda Jr. for the IBA junior welterweight title. The bout is scheduled
to take place April 21, 2006 at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California.
This will be the third time that the two boxers have crossed gloves.
Castaneda won their first fight. Their second fight which was for the vacant
IBA 140 pound title ended in a controversial draw. Weber's record stands at
21-1-2 and it includes victories over former champion Frankie Randall and
top contender Angel Manfredy.
After his disputed draw with Weber, Castaneda won the IBA junior
welterweight title by defeating Tomas Barrientes. He has defended it
successfully against Ernesto Zepeda. Rogelio has a repectable 21-10-3
ledger.
Weber will reportedly collect $15,000 for this engagement. With this
fight Craig will get an opportunity to avenge his only career loss and to
also win a piece of a world title. A win over Castaneda could put him closer
to a fight with one of the division's more respected champions like Ricky
Hatton or Miguel Cotto.
