Maidana just got his ass kicked earlier this year. How do you get a title shot AT 154 after losing a fight at 147, backing out of a fight with Thurman because "you'd rather have a tuneup" and beating Soto Karrass who isn't even top 20 in the division?

GBP matchmakers can't be this ******. They had an excuse with Josesito beating Ortiz and the Williams/Kirkland fights falling through, but there's no way to justify Canelo/Maidana as the first option. I'm sure Molina/Rosado/K9 will be willing to fight him in December.

I was pretty drunk at the time but I got a bad feeling when I kept hearing someone in Maidana's dressing room shouting out Canelo's name over and over...I guess some of you guys were onto this matchup even before that

It's not that Maidana can't fight or won't put on something entertaining, it's just the fact that he's already doesn't like it to the body is what takes the fun out of the fight and....it doesn't prepare Canelo for the bigger fights we thought we might have in the Spring

not a complete joke like lopez, but still, alvarez right now is a joke of a titleholder. the protection and pampering of this kid is embarrasing. like seriously, why not try facing someone like k9, rosado, or molina? then there's also other names out there like rabchenko, quintana, dzinziruk, or even roberto garcia? all these men are legit LMWs, why the hell are they looking at divisions below?
i like watching alvarez fight, i think he's got tremendous potential. i was really high on him around the time he fought jose cotto thinking he was going to take over this division, but instead he is given a world title at a c/w and is turning out be some kind of paper champ like ottke or something. i really hope this is all talk. alvarez needs to fight actual LMWs.
