IBF bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz recently stopped by BoxingScene.com's official audio show, The Boxing Lab. Last Saturday Santa Cruz became the first fighter to beat former champion Eric Morel inside the distance. The Puerto Rican started off by trying to stand his ground and trade with the much younger Santa Cruz. That strategy proved to be flawed as Morel ended up quitting on his stool before a sold out crowd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Santa Cruz facing the winner of Mares vs Moreno would be cool. I'd rather see Santa Cruz fight Rigo personally. I think he his style makes for better fight with Rigo, then a fight with Donaire, Moreno, or Mares.

love moreno, dude can just flat out fight. Love that little bit of mean in him to. Mares is a great fighter aswell but imo moreno's defence and patience will be the difference in the fight. any outcome possible for this fight wouldn't surprize me at all as these two guys are complete professionals. Not a bam bam fan at all so hope he gets smashed but the lara vs vanes fight is a great great fight. lara is good but go vanes peace ya'll

I'm very excited with the 118/122lb divisions right now. Moreno/Mares/Donaire/Rigondeaux/Nishioka/Santa Cruz/Del Valle/Agbeko/Darchinyan/Vasquez Jr./Frampton/Quigg/Munroe/Montiel/Arce/Perez....some veterans are on their way out and some prospects are ready to make their mark.

I couldn't agree more. Great fights, then in October we have Donaire v Nishioka which is absolutely huge!!

As for the Mares fight, yep it's 50/50. The lower divisions really are having the best up against the best. That's where the hits are, all they need is a character like Naz to spark a revival down there.
