Unidad Deportiva Norte, Cortázar, Guanajuato, Mexico - Guadalajara's Juan José "Goofy" Montes (23-2-1, 14KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision, with scores of 119-109, 118-111 and 119-110, over Oscar "Ceviche" Ibarra (27-8, 18KOs). The fight was a rematch of their February war, also won by Montes with a twelve round decision. This time the win was much clearer for Montes but the bout was fought at an active pace.
