Antwone Smith won a razor-thin split decision in an upset over unbeaten hometown favorite Ronald Cruz in their 10-round televised co-feature. Smith made up for missing weight yesterday by jumping out to an early start, which proved to be too much for Cruz to overcome, even fighting five minutes from home. Scores were 96-94 (twice) for Smith and 96-94 for Cruz. The bout is the first loss for Cruz, while Smith breathes new life into his previously fading career.

I have never seen a more pathetically slow, boring, and mediocre previously unbeaten fighter in a long time than Ronald Cruz. This guy does not even remotely have potential at the higher levels.

Rosado is ready for a title fight, but against who? Did I miss something in this story? Anyway, Canelo needs to meet Rosado, but I'm sure he and the WBC will move heaven and earth to avoid it. Rosado would be really bad for business, I'm sure of it.

Sorry but Rosado is gonna have to snatch that belt from Berto first.

Canelo needs to fight Rosado in December while Berto fights K9.

I don't know about that...K9's a beast! Hopefully Rosado doesn't freeze like he did in the first round against Perro.

Solid win for Gabriel. A fight against Saul Alvarez would be very interesting. I really like that fight!!!

No indication from the article, but I don't believe hes affiliated w/any of the major bodies, & vs Canelo w/his style, Alvarez will take him out, like he will Kirkland...guys like Lara/Vanes would beat Alavarez.....still Rosado should get a shot, he turned his career around, next year some time, IMO...
