I like James Kirkland, but c'mon man he wouldn't see the final bell against Canelo. Stop hating bro, it's not Canelo's fault he's more popular than most of those cats.
yet most of us were glad when Canelo was matched-up against P.Will (I was one of them). Lara had 15 fights at that point, so how was match-up bad for him? It was a good opponent for Canelo too. Some fans even thought Williams would win.

-Lara has fought Molina/P.Will and is going to fight Vanes
    -Kirkland has fought Angulo/Molina
-Trout fought Rodriguez and is now gonna fight Cotto

Contenders are fighting each other, while Canelo has the luxury of viewing the battles from his make-shift throne. There's almost little expectation for him to fight any contenders cuz many already believe he's THAT good and has SO much potential. Some fans are fine with him skipping through a certain tier of opponents solely because of his potential, how good he could possibly look against Mayweather and Cotto, how bad he could beat them up with his highly-touted power/combination punching/composure. His career is a big WHAT IF. He's getting too much credit for styling on guys that were put in front of him specifically for that purpose. Cotto styled on Gomez years ago, and almost everyone styles on Matthew Hatton. His quality of opposition is nothing to behold. Canelo has not fought a notable 154lber yet, he barely has any real/natural 154lbers on his resume, and some fans simply dismiss it because of the circumstances, "Well, he tried to make fights with P.Will/Kirkland", as if GBP deserves an A+ badge for their efforts, as if he deserves credit for actually fighting them. He's beating guys up and that's nice, but his resume is filled with mismatches. As a BOXING FAN, why wouldn't I wanna see how Canelo performs against guys in his tier, to see if he can indeed style on/beat the shit outta Molina/Lara/Trout? What's with the "go big or go home" mentality? Why does Canelo have to go for the gusto? Ya'll are acting as if he's an old veteran. Mayweather/Cotto aren't going anywhere. I recognize the reality that he'll have to fight a relevant opponent at some point, but why not sooner rather than later? He probably has enough star-power to bounce back from a loss, and he's shown that he can do good ratings. On this forum, guys like Golovkin and Rigondeaux get criticized for their lack of opposition, while their extensive boxing experience (amateurs=experience) goes completely ignored. They're much older than Canelo and can't afford to wait for the notable names in their division (Martinez/Donaire).

It's not about who can beat him....it's about who the GBP matchmakers are willing to put him in the ring with.
I think he has a good shot of beating anyone in the division, he passed the eye test a long time ago for me. Now he needs to get in there with someone worth a damn. After P.Will and Kirkland, the matchmakers should've tried to match him with Molina/Vanes/K9. Yes, I know that Vanes is TR, but they could've picked it up like TR picked up Lara/Vanes.

This kid has a lot of question marks, I dunno if he can handle slick either, Canelo looks the goods but he hasn't shown it against world class operators.
Oh Im with you on that one and Bushbaby too I think. People will realize it when the dude gets clocked by a real JMW if he ever fights one.

Had Cintron beat Molina, that would've been a solid W.

That might be a first. Wow.

When a guy who's gotten a KO overturned cannot beat a guy who tends to get shafted in his fights, that should tell you he ain't that good lol. Molina simply out-boxed him and left no doubt at the end. Cintron was a step-up for Canelo, but a very minor one. Cintron hasn't done jack since then, so that W means very little.

Well to be somewhat Positive I will say I think Canelo CAN BEAT: James Kirkland, Alfredo Angulo, Gabriel Rosado, K9 Bundrage and Vanes Martirosyan...
Now for the Bad News, guys who I don't think he has a chance against at the moment: Mayweather (OF COURSE), Erislandy Lara, Austin Trout, Carlos Molina...I think Carlos Quintana would give him MAJOR PROBLEMS with his style as well!

But the only way to find out is if Canelo finally start fighting these guys!

Yet Ginger called him out, and Cotto was present for the Canelo-Lopez match. Talk about not wanting.
