Promoter Don King has a 50% promotional share of newly crowned 7-foot WBA heavyweight champion Nicolay Valuev for four more fights and he has promised to bring Valuev to the U.S.
Imagine that- King owns 50% of Valuev!!!

....Why do you think King has been spending so much time oversees lately. He sees the impending takeover of the heavies by Euro boxers and he is going to latch on to that for all he is worth. It seems like he has been in Europe for probably 4 out of the last 6 months. -

That's a ridiculous statement.Originally posted by BostonGuyKing promotes not for the money, but because he loves doing it.
If he only did it for the love of it, then every boxer that signs with him wouldn't end up sueing him and running for the hills as soon as they can- ie. Byrd, Rahman, etc etc ETC. King is all about money and how much he can screw his boxers out of. He's done with every high profile fighter he's ever had from Ali to date. Any that think he didn't screw them are too dumb to understand their contracts, most likely. Boxers sign with him to get big fights and get their name out there, they use him for exposure, then RUN FOR THE HILLS as soon as they can or as soon as they realize what a crook and theif he is.
And of course King has a stake in Valuev, we all knew that. I'd been saying for weeks leading up to the fight that Ruiz needed a KO to win. King wanted to trade up for Valuev. Ruiz is near retirement, no draw, etc. Valuev is a new 7 ft freak who draws large in Germany. I think he beat Ruiz anyway, but that didn't matter- even if he didn't, he was going to win a close decision. Look at Ruiz and Byrd vs. Golota. Golota won both of those, but Don isn't ******. Ruiz and Byrd are NOTHING without belts, not even a remote draw. Golota is a draw with or without a belt. In these close fights, the decision that will most benefit Don is the decision you'll hear about. Same with Brewster-Meehan. Meehan won that fight, no question. But a Brewster-Wlad rematch is big money that Don is counting on down the road. So Brewster gets the gift decision. I could go on and on and ON...Comment
