  • Comments Thread For: Mayweather Sr. Not in Favor of Martinez-Floyd Clash

Last weekend Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez stamped his class for the whole world to see at the expense of the young Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. in a one-sided boxing clinic. Martinez is considered as the best pound-for-pound fighter by most boxing experts, next to Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

Many fancy a Martinez-Mayweather match-up at middleweight, but if one were to ask Mayweather's former trainer and estranged father Floyd Mayweather, Sr., he doesn't want any part of it for his son.

So funny....I guess the mayweathers are back on that bull****. I love floyd but here we go w/ this again. I floyd has been sparring w/ LH's & cruisers his whole life how in hell can't he fight a jr MW? Especially since he's fought 2 already?? DLH & Cotto...& really 3 if u count the fact that shane was campaigning there b4. & now wants to propose a fight w/ canelo. I mean it's just ridiculous. How u gon be the best in the world & just blatently do **** like that. Why don't they just say sergio is too fast...too strong & too dangerous to fight. Makes him look like a real poosay for holding a belt at the div but wont fight the #1 guy there....wutever.

"Personally, when people talk about (Sergio) Martinez fighting him (Floyd Mayweather, Jr.)... I'm not saying my son can't whup him, because I've seen my son box big cruiserweights before in the gym, but when you got to put smaller gloves and stuff, you know, I don't think it's a good idea," Floyd, Sr. told me in Las Vegas when I asked him about the subject.

"He's (Floyd Jr.) still fighting outside his weight class by fighting at 47 (welterweight), because really, Floyd can make 140. So really, to be honest, he shouldn't fight anybody much bigger than that. He doesn't need to fight jr. middleweights," the former boxer added.

A fight where people genuinely feel there's a good chance Mayweather loses.

That's what I want to see.

Pretty much this lmao. Whats funny are his fans. Brbb, sergio is too big for floyd, yet canelo isnt? When they are pretty much competitive fight night weights?

Brb, shane mosley was too big for mayweather?

What's up with them saying people want to see the fight at middleweight?? I for 1 do not expect nor care for Floyd to fight at 160. That's giving up absolutely too much.

What are you showing? Sr looking out for his son's health preservation?
