NEW YORK –-In a big night for boxing, Saturday night’s SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast of “Knockout Kings” scored record ratings for its headlining fight between Canelo Alvarez and Josesito Lopez with over one million viewers. The blockbuster event, promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Canelo Promotions in association with Goossen Tutor Promotions and Thompson Boxing Promotions, was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and featured an action-packed bout on the undercard between welterweights Marcos Maidana and Jesus Soto Karass, which helped garner the second-highest rating for a boxing telecast on the premium network since 2007.

Yea cause the main event was PURE ****.

If this event had the type of undercard Top Rank had (a ****ty one) they wouldnt even had done 1M viewers.

LMAO, yes the undercard was responsible for all these viewers. Canelo needs to fight someone his size and that actually has a chance to beat him. At least Chavez Jr. risked his undefeated record to someone that was better than him.

I don't think the Top Rank undercard was that bad... Considering the Martinez-Beltran was the fight of the night.

i think its cuz golden boy are starting to offer bonuses... like 100k extra for fight/KO of the night.
i know for sure "the Chino" was gunning for that bonus money!

Probably Due To HBO' Out Of Hand $59-$60 PPV Charge For Chavez/Martinez Same Night!

What's with HBO's ego????? Continually they grow and grow their price. How much are they paying Jim Lampley & Michael Buffer?!!!? It's ****** to pay that hit; Showtime put on an outstanding card.

so if chavez wasn't fighting that night it could have been more,,,good for all these boxers, these guys bring in the fans and it's great, arum should learn how to make a good card, just keep mike jones and jesse vargas out of the cards and he'll do better
