Con La Muerte en Los Puños
I don't think I can post videos or links yet, but there's a song called, "Con La Muerte en Los Puños" or "With Death in the Fists."
This song was written for Jose Becerra after his fight with Walt Ingram, where Walt collapsed after the fight was stopped in the ninth round in 1959; unfortunately Walt died in the hospital. I've read that Jose was never the same fighter after that.
Find the translated lyrics below:
WITH DEATH IN THE FISTS
He was born near the horse stable
Where there wasn't one horse
He received the sky's light
With lightning and thunder
He never attended the school
Attended by his brothers
Because he already had the force
In the fists of his hands
A brother of his father
A boxer, now retired
Gave him the pair of gloves
The ones he had won with
And they didn't fit him big
The day he knocked "El Diablo" Vega down
The champion of all neighborhood
He came to be champion of the world
There was none willing to face him
Until a brave man came
And they fought in Guadalajara
He came out to win like always
From the ring of the first bell
He hit him until death
Drew itself on his face
He cried with the victory
And he damned his destiny
Because he conquered glory
But he felt like an assassin
He then threw his gloves off
and walked out through the ropes
To find any other road
