Also... did T&M pay a site fee? I can guarantee you that GBP got a site fee from MGM.

    Go beneath the surface.

Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen just did $6.5 million in gate revenues.
Eh? Aren't the ticket prices for Chavez-Martinez lower?

Think about it: this event was MUCH bugger than the GBP show, and only did $1.4 million more.
They only sold roughly 2000 more tickets yet they did double the gate for Canelo/Lopez. Did pretty well if you ask me, considering there is no Pac/Cotto/Mayweather.

Anderson Silva is the floyd of his sport. Couple that with Sonnen and the huge hype, did you expect anything less? That was basically the best fight people have been looking forward to and possibly the most anticipated one in lor knows how long. Itd be more comparable to say.. Cotto - Mayweather.

But anyway, 3 Mil is great for Chavez Jr and Martinez fighting on the same night as Canelo in the same city. Compare that to Ward-Dawson.... And yeah... Both the canelo and martinez-Chavez gates were a big success. Chavez-Martinez only had a two ep 24/7 and Canelo-lopez both had their own versions of 24/7 for showtime.

At the end of the day, two BOXING cards ran on the same night in the same town, appealing to more or less the same fan base.

A very good result, particularly in this economy.

            And vice versa.

Don't you think Canelo's ticket prices would have been higher if Chavez wasn't fighting up the street?

That is the point. If Chavez-Martinez was such a hugely successful event, they could have priced the tickets higher and still sold that volume... thereby generating higher gate revenues.

Do you think Arum was trying to do the public a favor by pricing tickets low? To the detriment of his own pocket?

Arum is using venues as the marketing. Like he did with Texas Stadium and Yankee Stadium. He can then hype the event as "we sold this many tickets".

              You don't see that?

                .
Do you want me to undress you with other MMA gates as well? That did not include the "Floyd of MMA"?

                Just let me know.
