He could have easily have stopped the fight, and I think he was he looked like he was getting in position to do it, but he let Martinez go out on his shield and it's a good thing he did.

I know fighters safety comes first and foremost, but I'm sure we all agree early stoppages suck pretty bad.

Martinez didn't look that out of it and was actually fighting back (on wobbly legs mind you) after watching it a second time. But yeah I agree, some refs are too trigger happy these days. Weeks is one of my favs.

Prior to you bringing this up, I kind of forgot there was a referee in the ring at all - meaning he did an excellent job.

Anyone else notice the Chavez corner milking every last second in-between rounds? Or maybe Martinez was just so damn anxious to beat Chavez's face in that he was always out of his stool far before the bell.
