Reminds me of Chavez Jr. after he beat Lee. For some reason everybody thought that because of that, he'd be able to beat Martinez.
    Really?
I still can't wrap my head around that.

It has nothing to do with the Lopez fight, when I look at how Canelo fights he is careful and cautious then you look at his youth, strength and boxing ability I think that would be a tough proposition for Floyd at this point of his career considering he is very small for 154.

Now Floyd is a tricky guy and Canelo is unproven so it is not a sure thing but I do think Canelo would be a very tough fight for him, win or lose.

I could still see Floyd fighting him as long as the money was correct, because I do think he still has the arrogance to think he can't be challenged.

Just posting so I can bump this thread. I remember an exact thread like this being made before Floyd fought Mosley.

I think canelo needs to fight and beat cotto first. If he beats cotto he is a real threat to mayweather.

Lopez was simply too small and had no fire power. Canelo still froze everytime he threw a combo and is so front foot heavy with no head movement.

Floyd might take the fight just cause he can make a lot of money on Canelo's popularity. Once Canelo fights a top Jr MW and wins Ill become a believer.
I give him a pass on this last fight cause they actually tried to make a decent fight but the options fell through

I agree, people are looking only into opposition they have fought, but people have to understand these two are in completely different points of their careers. Canelo is now ready to move up to face the elite fighters while Mayweather is approaching the twilight of a legendary career, there are a lot of variables to analyze in this fight. It's not so simple as saying "Canelo hasn't fought anybody he gets destroyed". As a Mayweather fan I expect him to win, but I admit I would be very nervous for this fight. While the sturdy opposition isn't there for Canelo yet, you have to admit there is plenty of talent there and potential there.
