I thought Sergio was done, I really did. That first knockdown was all Chavez had left though. Great, great last two rounds.

A lot of people will probably say "Chavez should have done that from round 1!" but it was pretty clear he was completely and utterly unable to handle Martinez's speed. He had no choice but to open up those last two rounds, when Sergio finally slowed down.

Sergio thought the fight was over, but Chavez came out with a punch from no where and hurt him bad.

YOU just don't know boxing, your too young to understand the ramifications of this fight, this was more than Sergio surgically cutting up Chavez , this was the young Chavez coming out and making his name and dude, HE DID, HE NEVER QUIT like WESS said he would, he took ALL THOSE SHOTS and he NEVER gave up and he came out and had Sergio within ONE SHOT to WIN the most dramatic fight this year.

Boxing is more than just beating on a guy its more its what has the other guy, its what Sergio did to his last opponents and its what he COULD NOT DO THAT he said he would do, but it nearly happened to him.

It doesn't matter what nearly happened, just what happened. Martinez dominated Jr for 11 rounds, got way too confident at the end and got caught, but Martinez was just way too good.

The reason for the knockdown was simply Martinez being exhausted. He underestimated how much Chavez had left in the tank. Other than that Chavez was simply a punching bag for 95% of the fight.

Good fight for Martinez, but he should be more careful in there. If Chavez is anything, he is tough and strong
