Am I living in a different dimension to everybody else?

Chavez Jr looked awful at the weigh in. He looked absolutely starved. His face looked anorexic, his demeanour that of a man feeling unwell - he had to be instructed to do some poses after his weigh in, after meandering off the scales.

You know what happens when you starve yourself like that? Your body turns on itself. That he hit 158lbs showed he has hurt himself badly just making weight.

I can't believe that not a single one of these trainer or staff predictions has even mentioned the weigh in. Roy Jones, oh man of wisdom, had the daftness to proclaim that the 158 meant Chavez had made extra effort to make weight and should rehydrate to 185lbs - WTF, you can't just cut 2 effing stone and not suffer the consequences.

Martinez is going to punch the weight drain out of this kid.

Because this has become such a norm in boxing, it somehow makes it seem like there's no consequence or that it's easy to do. When the fight gets in the later rounds, Jr's mediocre conditioning will reveal itself. There's gonna come a point where Chavez won't even have the physical/mental energy to chase Sergio anymore and he'll become a sitting duck for the straight left. His weight advantage comes at a price. Being heavier might help him absorb punishment, but it'll make him so much more easier to hit/out-maneuver.

Maybe we will have a Tex Cobb- Larry Holmes - Howard Cosell moment tonight. When after Junior takes such a one sided beating both Larry Merchant and Max Kellerman will both quit doing fights.

Both the trainers roundtable and the staff predictions were done prior the weigh-in.
