Comments Thread For: Martin Murray Goes For WBA-Interim Belt on Hatton Card

Martin Murray hopes to put almost a year of frustration behind him when fighting for the WBA’s interim world middleweight title on the undercard of Ricky Hatton’s November 24 comeback at Manchester’s MEN Arena.

Murray, 24-0-1 (10), drew with Felix Sturm for the WBA’s Super world middleweight title in December yet has been able to secure a big fight since that memorable night at Germany’s SAP-Arena — his sole 2012 appearance thus far a 10-round decision win over Karim Achour on June 16. So it'll be Murray, Golovkin and Geale
Money none of them fight each other

I could see Geale and Murray fighting each other, but I do not see Golovkin in either equation. Golovkin has bigger fish to fry, and those dudes are gonna start feeling public pressure to face him very soon. Guy is a beast.

Navarro has only had 12 fights, none against anyone with a pulse, and is ranked 125th at middleweigh by boxrec. A fine tuneup but a ridiculous opponent if it's for a paper interim title, although the WBA fed Golovkin a similar softy for a belt a few years ago. Maybe now Murray can can get Sturm again, since he is no longer a beltholder

Murray was never touted for big things early on in his career but after some good wins and a bit of attention, he's started to stagnate. Fighting the likes of Achour and Navarro will not get him ready for things to come at the top.

Vera, Khurtsidze, Zbik, Mora, Lorenzo, Spada... should be the sort of fighters Murray is looking at.

Yep, just when the WBA was set to enforce Golvokin to face Geale, this happens.

You make it sound like the WBA had no part in Murray's interim belt.
