Why are y'all acting like de la Hoya is saying this outta nowhere. He is really only addressing Martinez cuz Sergio came out and said he would fight Canelo at 154. And we all know Canelo been wantin Floyd. We all know that Canelo is supposed to be golden boys next star. So it's obvious he will eventually have to fight big names. A lot people thought chavez would not fight martinez. Look Now. Y'all sound like a bunch of haters.

If you read more in to it, Oscar didn't mention any Top Rank fighters. He didn't mention Pacquiao, Bradley, Chavez, no TR fighters. Do you still wonder why?

Let's not pretend like De La Hoya is serious. He isn't. De La Hoya isn't going to match Canelo against Martinez even if Martinez stays with DiBella. He's fought nobody, nobody with a pulse at 154. Lopez is one fight removed from fighting at 140. He didn't have power at 140. Mosley has been washed up for years and, in his prime, would have destroyed Canelo. Canelo is as coddled as JCC Jr.

If Canelo wants to impress fight fans, he should fight Golovkin. Arum doesn't rep him. Golovkin is not well known so he won't cost much. He has a middleweight belt but will drop to 154 for the fight. Let's be clear though, that fight won't happen either for the same reason Canelo isn't getting near Martinez any time soon--Golden Boy will not risk their "goose that lays the golden egg."

exactly. i like watching alvarez fight, but let's be real. let's focus on getting alvarez in the ring with top contenders in his weight class. cotto/trout and lara/martirosyan are going down, so hopefully he gets one of those. talks happening about berto/k9, so i think those would be decent matchups as well. depends on how the winner looks though imo.
