Comments Thread For: Witter: It is a Mistake For Ricky Hatton To Come Back

Ricky Hatton has been told that making a ring comeback is a mistake, by the man who spent most of his career calling him out.

The 33-year-old is expected to confirm he is coming out of retirement, three years after he last threw a punch.

But according to domestic welterweight rival Junior Witter, who consistently tried and failed to lure Hatton into a bout, the move is a bad one.

"I don't see what is in it for him," he told the Daily Express. "You have to come back for a reason and I don't see what the reason is.

"Ricky achieved what he did in a brilliant career, but he is not the type of kid who likes to stay fit and in shape.

I've been saying that since Floyd sent him on a date and fired his entire team and then got involved with drugs. He was mentally done! Pac deciding to fight him validated it.

If Hatton comes back, Khan is a safe move and VERY winnable that would be huge in his home town. Like Pac, Hatton waited to fight a beaten and exposed fighter, who ironically doesn't have a coach either. Only difference is, Hatton is not considered the best and is looking for an easy fight.

The bold, do you believe all the stuff you say about Pac? Damn, you hate him that much. Do you know about any other boxer? Always bringing up Floyd in threads that are not related. You have issues.

Witter is right. Hatton should have retired straight after the Mayweather fight and stayed retired, because that was a very brutal loss and the mental aspect of it was also very crushing. Floyd ruined him, and in more ways than one. He was a pale shell of his former self after that and I think he's coming back just because he can't do anything else that gives him the same kind of rush. It's a shame that he doesn't have some sensible people around him to talk him out of it. He might win a fight or two, I could see him beating Khan, but not a big fight and as is the case with most boxers that come back when they no longer have it, it's not going to have a happy ending. He might get seriously hurt.
