I don't see how people can even root for Chavez Jr.
Chavez's style is tailor made for Sergio.
1) Stamina won't be an issue for Martinez.
2) Chavez is too slow
3) He has mediocre defense
4) Chavez has good power but Sergio i feel has atleast that much power.
Sergio is def not afraid, i think he has a pure dislike for Chavez Jr. and is probably the most hungry he's ever been. He's going to knock this kid out. I don't see this as a close fight at all.Comment

I understand what you're saying. But from the HBO face off, Martinez was as cool as anything. I didn't see fear at all. I think it's more genuine dislike due to how difficult the fight has been to make and from what Chavez Sr was saying many months ago when he launched personal insults on Martinez.
So I don't blame him for it. He's clearly very sharp mentally and I think now he has the limelight on him he's making the most of it.
I think Chavez is a very difficult fight and it will be close. But I think Sergio knows that too. He's just having his fun now he's finally got the world boxing stage.
All things considered, i think iLast edited by ~AK49~; 09-13-2012, 07:59 AM.Comment

Sergio will look like a fckin idiot if the fight turns out mediocre.
All this trash talking nonsense only helps Chavez.
The more he talks about KOing Chavez the more he looks like a bitch for not engaging in exchanges or taking risks when the time comes.
All he is doing is putting more pressure on himself to take risky chances to get the knockout, risky chances that Jr can capitalize on.
I think Sergio's vocalizing his anger/frustration for two reasons: A) He's selling the fight to the best of his ability, and B) He wants Chavez to come in reckless and over-eager, and then take advantage.
He's probably a bit anxious, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. He was anxious before the 2nd Williams fight, and look what happened there.Comment

trash talking
Not to surprise of Martinez excesive trash talking, a lot of Argentinian celebrities are the same for example soccer player Maradona. The only reason why u didn't see Martinez trash talk before is just because he was never expose to a PPV fight event. So if you are Mexican and go for Martinez u should be shame on yourself. Throw away that selfishness from the son of the legend and give him a chance!Comment

Martinez never was much of a trash talker; my take is that maybe he has some fear of Chavez jr. After all, who has he beat lately? He seems like a good fighter but you can't really tell because the biggest person on his resume to me is the fight where he knocked out Paul Williams, and Williams seem to have fallen off.
His other impressive fight was against Kelly Pavlik and an old Bernard Hopkins schooled him. Williams lost his fight against Lara; so it's really hard to access Martinez's ability because his last few fights were against tomato cans!!
Do you watch boxing? Or do you just wikipedia **** afterwards? Seems like the latter. Williams sure seems to have fallen off. How do you have more than 2 posts and aren't banned for ******ity?Comment
