Comments Thread For: Geale To Meet With HBO, Eyes Chavez-Martinez Winner

The queue of potential opponents is growing for Australia's dual middleweight boxing world champion Daniel Geale as he prepares to check two of them out in person.

Little more than a week after returning from Germany, where he dethroned WBA middleweight Super champion Felix Sturm, Geale is heading overseas again.

He leaves Sydney on Tuesday night to head to Las Vegas, where next weekend Julio Cesar Chavez Jr defends his WBC middleweight crown against Sergio Martinez.

The winner is a possible opponent for IBF and WBA Super champion Geale, in what would potentially be a massive three-belt unification match. [Click Here To Read More]

What a shame. I hope, WBA takes the belt away from him. He should fight GGG.

That's not fair to geale at all. He has every right to go after the best fight and that is most certainly the winner of Jr. Vs. Martinez

I think HBO will push him to fight Golovkin. The winner gets a big boost going into a Martinez fight.

Somebody's been reading Chris Mannix's blog

          • Look for scintillating middleweight Gennady Golovkin to be back in the ring before the end of the year; just don’t expect it to be a unification fight against Daniel Geale. There’s a strong interest from HBO to make Golovkin-Geale but the sense I’m getting is that it’s more likely to happen in the spring of 2013.

Yeah Geale has never fought on HBO so I don't see him jumping into a big fight on the network right away. He'll have to earn that big payday. And HBO just started investing in Golovkin so they'll want return on their investment.

So if this fight is made the winner will have to vacate the WBC belt?

I have no problem with Geale chasing the winner... although I doubt he'll get it.
If he doesn't want to fight golovkin right away fine... but if it contradicts the WBA's rules... then he should drop the belt..... even though the WBA don't enforce anyway.
