This is GREAT for the sport of boxing. Fighters will get the exposure they need and deserve from the World Wide Leader in Sports (ESPN). This will help the fans follow the fighters now.

        Good stuff.

But the one thing their missing is covering the untelivised undercards on HBO Boxing events the way Showtime does. I would have liked to see an agreement reached where ESPN Deportes, ESPN3 or another ESPN Network would show the untelevised undercards for HBO boxing events.

More boxing on tv, gotta love it. More exposure can't hurt.

Sounds good. Lets see how it's implemented. More Raphael and Teddy Atlas or will people like Stephen A and Skip "say" more about boxing since they know very little about the sport.

Atleast there will be more available than "STILL" photos post fight or god forbid, only ticker updates.

Does this arrangement mean that Showtime fights will receive little pre fight coverage?? Pardon my skepticism.

This is great for boxing. I was surprised to see Chavez Jr-Martinez advertised multiple times inbetween national NFL content on ESPN. I hope this trend expands.

i don't see how it's that GREAT to be honest. **it will be nice to see more stuff on basic cable, but I want fights

it's good for HBO, because they get to promote their upcoming events (PPV's) via ESPN

but serious question, what does ESPN gain from this partnership? they get all the content from HBO (weigh ins, fighter interviews, highlights)

but not the actual fight itself (which will still be on HBO PPV)

if HBO was moving some of their fight cards/PPVs over to ESPN, to be on free basic cable, not that would be GREAT for the sport

but as it stands now, and read the article (specifically blurbs 5-7) it seems like HBO is just using ESPN as a platform to help promote fights on HBO

                  which is great for HBO

I was actually imagining this happening a few months ago. I thought it would do wonders not only for HBO boxing but boxing as a a whole, glad to hear its really happening.

This is great news for boxing. Hope it works out. This would be the perfect time for Boxing to cash in on the UFC/MMA's poor run.

Hope it works out and brings boxing back to the mainstream
