The next step would be 175, there's a lot he can do there.

After Martinez beats the **** out of Jr. he should call out Ward. That's the best fight you can make in the sport right now. Sergio isn't that much smaller than Ward.

I think even Sergio knows he may be outclassed heavily in that fight, but it also wouldn't bring nearly as much money as if he fought :

        who IS getting older himself

            Andre Ward should retire. NOW.

            Were the 168 and 175 divisions loaded with talent then of course, there would be great fights to be made, but here are the facts;

Ward has already cleaned up the SMW division, he is stand alone the best at 168

Who is he going to fight at 175?

Popkins? No thanks, snoozefest and a complete mismatch. 12 rds of pure sedative.

Dawson? No thanks, borefest, besides, we’ve just seen the gulf in class, ok at Wards weight, but it clear to anyone who watched, Ward was a MILE ahead in skills.

Clev? No thanks. Clev (God love him, I’m British). Just a bad fight, and Warren won’t allow this to happen for 4/5 years aka Calzaghe promotion tactics.

Cloud? The only good fight out there, but negotiations would drag, tune up’s would come first, Cloud would lose down the track and the fizzle would turn to drizzle. Never gonna happen.

            Shumenov? Jog on.

Nope, if i were Ward i’d seriously call it a day. You’re already the best SMW in history, Calzaghe simply doesn’t match up.

            Why go on?

If Ward continues to box it’ll be RJJ mrk2, outclassing opposition by a mile, no competition, it’ll be dull as you like. The money will come in, but that’s all.

Hang ‘em up son, you’ve proved you’re best, and not even been tagged in doing so.

              Why are you neglecting Dirrell?

It's in the original post, did you not read it?

PS I appreciate your input on the other fighters though.

I'd like to see him go to LHW.

Hasn't he said that he won't fight Dirrell? I'm not completely sure whether he said this or not, but logic tells me he wouldn't. They are friends, and Dirrell has neurological problems.
