the russians put my grandfather in a POW camp in siberia for 4 years during world war II, so i hope nicolai valuev dies in the ring tonight, it'll give me satisfaction to see him die and to see the russians dissapointment.
one of the most annoying things to me on this forum are the complete ******s like IMSOFLY who have no notion of history and geography and lump russians into a group with europeans, its like saying mexicans and americans are the same thing cause their countries touch.
If he was a part of a german army, that served him right. If he didn't come and try to **** with Russia, he wouldn't end up in the POW camp in the first place.
1. Win tonight, and claim you did it for America and Perto Ricans. People are nationalistic sons of bitches deep down, and love that sort of stuff.
I doubt he can win tonight. He cannot KO Valuev and there is no way in hell he will win on scorecards in Germany.

2. Lose the hugging. John dropped it for the Toney fight (humiliatingly being told "very good" by the referee every time he went against his nature) and put on a much better than expected bout. He still didn't look pretty, but the hugging has to go. Louise has to find another way to win.
Toney took him to school when he tried to lose the hugging. I think that was humiliating to the point where Ruiz announced his retirement after the fight.

3. Boost your public persona. We all saw what happened when Louise speaks at the Toney-Louise press conference. It wasn't pretty, though he did get a nice (unintentionally prophetic) line about Toney being the result of drugs. "I'm the best, you know... I'm the best." By his side Louise has a cantankerous foul-mouth who loves nothing more to provoke other people until he gets beaten up. With the right backing, Stoney should be a star... and he can pick Louise up with him as a double-act.
That lawsuit against Toney for damaging his reputation was absolutely pathetic, I don't think anything could have damaged his rep more.

4. Unify. Not as strange as it may sound. Byrd's getting increasingly slow and ready to be defeathered... Louise already has a win over Rahman should he prevail, and the fight with Toney wasn't the one-sided shutout most try and claim it was. Brewster's a problem, but despite a very good 2005, he's still an unproven quantity. Purely in terms of records, there's no one better with a belt currently than Louise.
Just a thought about seeing Ruiz and Byrd in the same ring puts chills in my bones. That would be a #1 contender for the most boring fight in the history of boxing. Brewster would probably KO Ruiz by 10th round. Rahman is a 50/50.

5. Cement the legacy with three more good mandatories and get out. People can knock his style all they want - asthetically, he makes Chris Byrd look like the most exciting fighter on the planet - but you can't fault his record. He had two SD losses in his first twenty learning bouts (when he was 18 wins, with 11 KOs), and got caught cold by a prime David Tua. Anyone can get caught, and while his chin perhaps isn't the greatest, the fact that that's his only stoppage loss in 48 bouts says something. The historical fact that only three former middleweights have been able to take the heavyweight crown and two were with Louise (now one, due to the fact that one was juiced) takes away that the two middles in question were exceptional HOFs and Louise isn't a particularly big heavyweight. People talk about Byrd, but Louise also gives away weight and height in many of his bouts, and is always willing to step up. I give the guy credit for his balls, and his willingness to carry on even in the face of unheralded adversity. Merry Christmas Louise.
Big problem - nobody wants to see his fights. This fight today is pathetic - a WBA HW championship that is not being televised in the US?! That's a hell of a "cementing" opportunity.
All in all - Ruiz should retire after this fight - win or lose.

Actually I think if it was televised in the U.S. say on WCB on HBO a lot of people would watch it. They're curious how Johnny will defeat the giant Valuev. I know I and the usual crowd in my neighborhood that watches big fights would all watch it atleast, it really does a disservice to the sport not televising it..

my grandfather was HUNGARIAN, a country without an air force that was taken over by force by communist russians. he didnt "come and try to **** with russia" as you so eloquently put it.
i remember a good joke by norm macdonald on SNL a long time ago.
"thomas davis, an american, was arrested in moscow today by russian authorities on charges of espionage...... apparently he was trying to steal the russians secret recipe for misery and despair"

In this case I sincerely apologize. My bad.
However, how can you hold today's generation for something that hapenned 60 years ago? I'm not hating on today's Russians because my great grandfather was shot during the Revolution and my other great grandfather rotted and died in jail. I'm not hating on Germans who virtually destroyed Russia and other republics during the WWII. You can't hold children responsible for their parents' deeds.
