Wards defense is too tight and Chad just doesn't have enough to break him down. Ward is similar to Mayweather in that he can a fight several ways depending on how his night is going.
I don't see this being a particularly spectacular fight but I think technically Ward will dominate from start to finish.

Short night for Ward on the inside? doubt it, will be a long night for Dawson.

Prediction: TD or TKO win for Ward after a bad cut from an illegal headbutt.
I can see it being like this tbh.

Stylistically this is wards hardest opponent, ward is going to get hit in this fight, quite a bit.

Dawson is fast, and uses his length well.

I'm hoping he makes weight well and it's a clean fight but I'm having concerns Ward will be allowed to take liberties on a weight drained Chad.

For some reason, the same thing came to my mind. I think it's gonna be a real ugly fight, with a lot of fouling from both sides. Ward's a 'tit for tat' kinda guy... if you hit him low, he's gonna hit you low. If you hit him behind the head, he's gonna return the favor.

I completely agree. I remember when the commentators were so surprised when they saw Ward fighting on the inside (against AA I think?). Ward is highly adaptable and can fight in whatever style he thinks best suits him against his opponent.

I also think, in a sport that is something like 75% mental, when Chad is nervous or uncomfortable it highly affects his game. If you take a look at his fights going back as far as Adamek (in which he looked spactacular), once he really stepped up in competition (Glen Johnson) he hasn't had a single K.O. since before then. I would love to see his punch stats in and pre Adamek fight in comparison to his post Adamek fights. Maybe I just remember him being more active and a lot more of a combination puncher for some reason, but now most of the time his corner is begging him to throw punches. I think the big stage does affect Chad, whereas it seems to be second nature to Andre.

Dawson just has alot of thingsa gainst him this fight. The location, the new weight, being the underdog....if he pulls this one out it will be legendary. This one will be close indeed.

Ward is such an underrated inside fighter....I hope Dawson can handle 168 fine.

If JCC Jr can make 160 (and he walks around 180 pounds) Dawson can make 168 with no problem. Two weeks ago he was weighing around 176lbs. Dawson had problems in sparring with Miranda because of the weight loss, but he will be alright come fight night once he rehydrates.
