All Pac had to do was fight Cotto without a catchweight and all of these 'what if?' questions would have been over with.

Pac wasn't willing to do that though, so the debate will very much continue. My opinion on the fight? Miguel was drained, poorly trained and coming off the handwrap beating and a life and death struggle with Clottey...he was hardly at his best.

You wont know until fight time , keep your eyes open for any sign of Diuretics or Iv fluids thats a sure sign , and then look for Chad being very lethargic , getting hurt from shots he shouldnt , timing being off and being out muscled by the smaller man ..

Like I said its not the numbers , 1 or 7 it dont matter , its the effect of those numbers and you dont know that until after the fact , its like anything you take a calculated chance with , you must run the race to know you ran out of gas.

And also take into account both Ward and Dawson are boxers , neither a power fighters so weight wont play a hand like it would with more physical styles .

If anyone was drained against Pac, it was DLH. He looked like a frail skeleton out there.

        Cotto not really.

You are trying to say Cotto was not allowed to come in the ring at over 147 and of course you are wrong. The paper was saying if he was over 145 at the WEIGH IN he would be fined and if he was over 147 at the WEIGH IN the fight would be called off. There was NOTHING in the contract that said Cotto could not gain as much weight as he wanted to after the weigh in. If there was Cotto sure would have told the world about it. Cotto was probably about 160 in the ring to Pacquiao's 147. Please try to keep your hatred of Pacquiao under controll.

Cotto may or may not of had a re-hydration clause in his contract but the article you posted makes no mention of it and the quote you posted is clearly referring to the weigh in. This thread is just pointless.

You really dont understand the weight process , what your saying is Cotto could come any weight he wanted into the ring , yes thats true , and so could ODH yet he could only gain 2 lbs via IV fluids , you getting the weight drained picture yet ?

When a fighter trains to be at a certain weight thats lighter than he normally goes at , he must work around a certain body weight (mass) through camp , Oscar , Cotto and Margo all would have worked with less body mass throughout camp knowing they had to make a light weight , body mass is what holds the water , less mass means less water , means less weight , which also means less de-rehydration scale from dry to wet . .

You getting your head around it yet ? to understand the bodys balancing act regarding hydration you need to look outside of this forum .

To inforce your imaginary re-hydration clause there would have had to hade been a second weigh in right before the fight and there was none. If Cotto had fought Pacquiao at 147 with no re-hydration clause who do you think would have won the fight and by how much?

Id say Cotto wins , and Im taking into account the performaces around that fight , not the fight we seen , would the Manny that fought Bradley and JMM beat the Cotto that fought Floyd , I dont think so .

Now why does Pac " refuse " to fight Cotto without a CW , then and now he just will not fight him without it , you must realize that he is the same Miguel Cotto , just not weight drained and team Pac know it !

Really, reloaded? Cotto had to be lighter throughout his entire camp to weigh in 1lb lower then he did in his last fight?

I wonder if you believe what you type.

" I will never sacrifice my body like that for another boxer "

Its just 2 pound more , Manny wont fight without it and the Manny fans say it means nothing .

If you only knew what you type can be so wrong !
