Comments Thread For: Branco is Shocked With Joyi's Unexpected KO Defeat

Johannesburg – The South African boxers' invasion of the international scene on Saturday night (Sunday morning SA time) produced moments of both ecstacy and agony.

With three leading local fighters taking part in high-profiled IBF title bouts in three different countries, overshadowing all else was the shock seventh-round stoppage of top South African pound-for-pound fighter and IBF mini-flyweight champion Nkosinathi Joyi at the hands of Mexican journeyman Mario Rodriguez in Mexico City. I got it dvred, I was toast last night and couldn't pay attention knowing the result, but the finish looked like a dive. He did get hit, and the other guy was pressuring alright, but at no point was Joyi looking like Bute, he just refused to get up. Must be hell for him to make straw, I just didn't see a "he's done" moment at all.

I think the altitude got to him, that and a few left hands that he was eating more and more. He got buddy roughed and hypothermia, he just crumpled after a so so uppercut and a miss. He couldn't catch his breath. Lots of people refuse to fight in Mexico and Denver and the Swiss Alps.

That's the most likely scenario he won fights on being bigger and just outworking guys , looks like it's time to move up

After watching the fight thats the only legit excuse there can be he was winning the fight and didn't take some monsterous shot he didn't see just some hard ones that put him down and quit on 1 knee he even was shaking his head while being counted out , he is big for the weight but didn't really show signs of that being an issue he looked to be dragging a bit but not just suddenly no mas bad..
