Comments Thread For: Schaefer Confident of Continued Pact With Mayweather

BoxingScene recently caught up with Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer at Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s open media workout in Santa Monica, CA.

Schaefer was in good spirits and proud of the card they are putting forth September 15th which is stacked from top to bottom. But an interesting topic of discussion was the lingering situation with TMT (The Money Team) Promotions company that has been spearheaded by rap artist now turned promoter 50 Cent. The newly formed entity is also said to be in conjunction with Floyd Mayweather Jr. [Click Here To Read More]

Yea, we'll see how long that lasts when you try to take their dates.
Bet he threatened to cut ties if you took Nov. 17th

There is plenty for everyone. And if TMT and GBP work together than that is a plus cause both have a great stable (TMT still building but so far good). TR just like Don King, who was on top of the world for a minute, are going down. Crappy cards and fighters getting wise to their ways

Don't count your eggs yet Schaeffer!! You're assuming there's loyalty between you and Mayweather!

Fans and the Media blow everything out of proportion and ties to stir up controversy

Like I said when 50 Cent had his run in with Oscar on Twitter...Mayweather don't even WORK WITH OSCAR...his relationship is strictly with Richard so what Oscar things about Mayweather and TMT Promotions don't even matter

Yea better stay off TMT dates if he wanna keep that pact going.

GBP know they need Mayweather cause they know Canelo is not gonna do the same numbers. Especially after he steps up and gets exposed.

We'll see. Floyd and Curtis are best friends. My money is on Jr.'s next fight being a TMT show with all the bells and whistles.

Shaffer may be friends with Mayweather but he doesn't give him the **** like 50 cent AKA Miss Jackson does. Floyd will do whatever 50 says or end up sleeping on the couch and that's a fact.

From a business standpoint, Mayweather does not need Shaefer anymore to promote. Sure they are close, but if he doesn't need him they why bother losing money? Him and 50 Cent can promote under one flag, that being TMT Promotions. Now if they are fighting a GBP fighter then that's a different story, I think promoters should gladly work with other promoters without hesitation to make the best fights possible.

For God sake TMT hasn't even staged their first fight yet. Like Tyson wondered do you think boxers have loyalty and how come everyone feels 50 cant outsmart the warriors who are in the forefront of boxing promotions, Al Haymon, Dan Goosen,Don King,Golden Boy,Klitchkos, etc.

You are only going by the name , without Floyd , who is 50 as a promoter, you might see him as an untouchable but do you think the networks might risk relationship they have with Top Rank and GBP.

50 will succeed but trust me there will be rude awakening along the line before he does.

Listen to floyd in his last interview. He mentioned TMT but he was quick to mention Floyd Mayweather promotions too, lets not make a mistake.

Floyd will never risk the millions he makes with his already business set up and Al haymon and his backers wont either. He will surely take on TMT may be later on in the years to follow when he is non essential in the boxing business. But for now and his high need for money , he will wont rule out GBP cos TMT has never promoted a fight of Floyds magnitude..
