JC Sr: "We're going to see a completely different Julio"

    My translation of the part

Lots of people are misinformed that Chavez only knows how to come forward. That's wrong. Julio definitely knows how to box. You can't beat Martinez just attacking. We have a very good strategy that I don't think Martinez will expect. Martinez expects a Julio that's the same like all his fights...The biggest difference in this fight is that we're going to have to see a Julio completely different from what we saw against Andy Lee.

That's exactly what I was thinking was going to happen. Just like Barker and Macklin, Julio is going to try to change his style completely. Seems to be the new trend with Martinez opponents. I wouldn't be surprised if Martinez is forced to be the aggressor while Chavez keeps his distance with his height advantage. (Kind of like he did against Manfredo) I don't think we'll see the Martinez vs Margarito II people thought they would get.

So he's going to wait for Martinez? That's the same as just giving rounds away since I don't see any counter attack skills on Jr.

Martinez has the reach advantage though.

Chavez Jr. should be opting to smother Martinez, not allow Sergio to get any leverage on his punches or any momentum coming forward. Chavez has the size, strength and durability to do this, don't understand why he would even think about boxing. Macklin and Backer's success were due to their counter punching, not solely their boxing and Chavez is a poor counter puncher. He mostly waits after his opponents attack, then leads.

He should fight the style that got him here, he isn't going to outbox Martinez. He needs to smother him and try to force him to look his age.

If Chavez Jr tries to box with Martinez he will get clowned.
