This has come up in two threads I've been posting in. I'm just curious as to how many of you have seen this? How did you score it? Surely not as wide as Harold Lederman did (118-110?!?) I scored it like the three judges (116-112) but damn this fight was a prime example of a close fight that ended up not being so close on the cards. Every round of this fight was a toss-up aside from 2 or 3 that Jones clearly won. Jones basically won it with his power punching in the close rounds. Watch it and pay close attention to rounds 5-8 and 11-12. A LOT of these could have gone to Hopkins. Close, close fight that warranted a rematch. Too bad both guys were too big of ******* to give it to us. I would have taken Jones to win more decisively at 168. Apparently, Jones didn't think so...

I'm pretty sure Jones didn't see the point. He beat him once, pretty decisively (even Hopkins admits that) and didn't want to go to the trouble of negotiating with him again. That's understandable.Originally posted by DiegoFuegoThis has come up in two threads I've been posting in. I'm just curious as to how many of you have seen this? How did you score it? 8-4 Jones, although Hopkins made it very competitve. Jones won most of the rounds, but they were all hard fought and competitve.
I'd liken it to Toney Jirov in that Toney won the majority of the rounds for a clear win, but watching it, the fight was very competitive.Comment

Its funny you mention the Jirov fight because Lederman had it a draw even with the 12th round knockdown. I thought James won about 9-10 rounds and so did the judges. I guess Harold didn't put as much emphasis on slipping and counterpunching as I did. Toney was an amazing defensive fighter that night. I thought Jones won pretty much every round against Hop but I'll rewatch it this week and rescore itComment
