gotta admit, that shot of Jack Nicholson and Canelo was pretty slick. Pretty much made the whole video.

Canelo has some tools and looks good but how good we will never know if he keeps up with this lame level of competition. I don't see him being no where near a global superstar. Hell he is not even a big american star let alone superstar.

          No..

and that does not imply Chavez jr is great either

but i have a funny feeling after Chavez jr loses (he might not) against martinez and canelo wins his showcase fight

canelo fans will talk about how he was leagues above chavez jr based on there recent outings

          dont forget that

Chavez jr wbc 160 titlist is taking on the number 1 guy aka champ at 160

canelo wbc 154 titlist is taking on a guy ranked in the top 5 guy at 140 lbs

Why the hate? Dude tried to fight someone better but they all fell out due to either "ducks" or injuries..and in P Wills case well..you already know. Cant fault him for this last time...

the reason for the hate is that I've been a hard core boxing fan since the early 70s. Back then boxing was a major sport. Everyone knew who the Hwt champ was and we watched at least 1 title fight every weekend. Boxing will continue on its downward spiral as long as this kinda ***** keeps up.

though the PWill thing was indeed tragic, Canelos next move was to Kirkland who they knew wasn't ready. There were lots of ready and willing contenders there without seeking out a 140lb contender. Do I need to name them?

i don't care who they are taking on. people make it seem like JR somehow has fought top competition. zbik, rubio, and lee are just average. canelo has much better skills than JR, he has better defense, he is more patient, more technical, and a stronger/crisper puncher. canelo will soon beat cotto, and every other 154 lber not named mayweather. if he goes up to fight martinez at some point i think he loses as well.

if you know enough about boxing and are able to evaluate skills and potential then you would realize that Canelo has much more skill and potential that JR. Oscar is slowly building Canelo, there is nothing wrong with that. He was supposed to be fighting Ortiz who would have been a much better fighter than anyone that JR beat, not his fault there was a huge upset.

oh you, whats wrong with building Canelo slowly is that there are worthy 154lb contenders that can't get title opportunities because of Canelos "building". As much as I hate it, it is a fact there is more earning power and prestige with one of the alphabet trinkets around your waist. The WBC 154lb title has been in virtual lock out for almost 2 years because of this "building". The "building" is supposed to take place before the title fight.

I agree with you that watching Jr and Canelo, Canelo looks more skilled. But the hell with that, Jr gets the credit as the better fighter if he fights Martinez.

This is exactly the kind of crap that keeps boxing on the back burner instead of the mainstream sport it could be again

I'm not on the Canelo train just yet, but the guy only had 20 amateur fights. He's 20-21 years old. He's being moved at the right speed considering how young he is. He's also on a collision course with Cotto and most likely will fight Floyd within the next 2 years. He's where he should be.
