Not trying to offend any Argentine here but they always been this way. They are real ****y and they are better than everyone else. I'm not saying every one of them is like that but thats how the majority are. I watch soccer so I'm used to them.
To me, I feel like TS is trying to start some ****. Who gives a fk about the fans? This ain't about them, this is about the fighters. If it was for the fans I wouldnt like half of the fighters in boxing. Pacquiao being one of them.

I just found this will be an interesting exercise on where national pride takes over in a boxing match.Comment

Because many mexicans support Martinez to beat Chavez...
And it's really clear that the majority of the Argentinians that will watch the fight want Martinez to killed the mexican, like we saw in this article.
So I tought it will be interesting to know what the Mexicans that support Maravilla think about this.
Naw, that's ok I'll just rather support the boxer that came up the hard way and paid his dues and has earned his spot at the top.Comment

Fans can't make you like a fighter, but they can certainly make you hate one. I'm definitely in agreement on that point. In this particular case, I can understand why some Mexican fans of Sergio would start to view him in a different light. Not that "Maravilla" has a hand in this nonsense, but it's human nature. It's sort of a "kill the messenger" effect.Comment

Man I bet you that if Martinez loses, all those people there would throw Martinez under the bus. I mean comon if it happens here on a boxing website where we are the ones that should kniw better, what makes you think all those idiots wouldn't do them same that are casuals, not only that I bet you all of them are newbs lolComment

So because all these Argentinians are idiots and only support Martinez because he is from Argentina, I should act like a complete idiot and change my mind and root for Chavez because he is Mexican?
Naw, that's ok I'll just rather support the boxer that came up the hard way and paid his dues and has earned his spot at the top.
If for example, Calzaghe... one of my all time faves were still active, and had to fight a mexican fighter, and I read stuff like that... in my case without a doubt I will support the mexican fighter just to piss those guys off, and It will pain me a lot to root against Joe, but that's who I am, my national pride will take over me in that fight.Last edited by ksan; 08-26-2012, 12:23 PM.Comment

However gross or disrespectful they may be, the hostility of Argentinian fans does not bother me one bit, so long as they truthfully support Sergio.
Lets see them travel to watch the match, buy the ppv, etc..
I'm taking a day off, and buying the PPV to support Chavez Jr. That alone speaks for itself in regards to National Pride.Comment

This has nothing to do with Sergio Martinez. If it was Sergio who said that stuff then yeah it would definitely affect how I view him. Idiots always talk shit no matter where they come from. Don't get it twisted Argentina isn't the only country that does this.
Nationalism always plays a huge role in who you go for. This is a problem I've always had with my dad whenever we watch boxing, he always roots for the Mexican fighter no matter what, and always shit talks or critiques the boxer the Mexican is fighting. And he also admits that fights that don't involve Mexican fighters don't interest him, for example Pacquaio vs Mayweather. That's the difference between me and him I love boxers that have styles that interest me. I don't care where they're from or what they look like.Comment
