WBO jr. flyweight champion Donnie Nietes has been the main bright spot for ALA Boxing Promotions as their sole bona fide world champion. Nietes also holds the record for being the Philippines' longest-tenured world champion in its boxing history when he was the WBO 105 lb. champion from 2007 all the way to the end of 2010, making three successful title defenses in Mexico along the way.

I've watched some of his fights on the Internet (because its rarely shown), and he is technically sound - and I agree that he is vastly underrated and not well known in North America. This is probably because he was fighting for a long time in the lightest weight class - which is why he moved up.

If he gives a good performance on the under-card, maybe next year will be Donnie's breakout year - at least from a financial perspective.
