Comments Thread For: Josesito Lopez is Ready To Shock The World… Again

By Jake Donovan - Two months ago, Josesito Lopez and his handlers joked about keeping their plans open for September 15. What he didn’t realize at the time was that he’d become a central figure in the evening’s action.

At the time, Victor Ortiz was already announced as the September 15 opponent for Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Golden Boy Promotions not only made the announcement but held a conference call to discuss the fight, even with the Lopez fight still more than a week away.

One month later and well into the aftermath of his upset stoppage win over Ortiz, the date, location and A-side opponent are still in place. But it’s once again Lopez playing the role of unexpected co-star.

“This is a huge opportunity against one of the biggest names in the sport today,” Lopez (30-4, 18KO) says of the fight that has him moving up in weight for the second consecutive fight. “I jumped at the chance to take this fight. We agreed the moment it was offered to us.” [Click Here To Read More]

It's crazy how sometimes fighters benefit more from loosing than actually winning... Josesito lost a controversial decision to hot prospect Jessy Vargas in a fight many(including Myself)thought Josesito won.. Almost a year later(& his 1st fight back since that lost)he practically gets thrown at the wolfs when they offer him a chance at the spot light, but has to go up in weight to face heavy favorite Vic Ortiz.. Josesito does good by not only looking good against the favorite Ortiz, but by breaking his jaw & beating Ortiz by TKO & ruining Ortiz chances to try to shine again in a big $ fight against "El Canelo".. Now Josesito is in the spotlight again & again he's being thrown at the wolfs, but this time is at a bigger wolf & at an even higher weight class(2 weight classes above his normal).. At least he's getting his $$$$$'s worth & as of right now he's the fighter getting the attention & in most people mouths while comparing him to Jessy Vargas who has 2 more victories since fighting Josesito(1 of those he had good*coverage*cause it was on the Cotto/Mayweather card) is still looking for that chance & no one really talks or mentions him & is practically unheard of..I just hope Josesito could pull it out, but I doubt it.. But at least he's gotten his respect & on this fight he has nothing to loose & everything to gain..

I Like Canelo and I think once they stop mothering him with easy opponents he will come good, but this Lopez kid has made me a fan in the last year.

Good luck to Josesito. I feel he's going to need it.

That's because Lopez is the man and exciting to watch. While Vargas sucks balls and is boring as fk...

Jose has the size, reach and power to give Canelo trouble. Is just too bad that He doesn't have the Jab and foot work to get the job done.

WAR josesito. Even if he loses at least he wont lay down he'll go out swinging. And if he wins he should get a shot with floyd, that would be such a crazy underdog story.
