lol this is old ..okay i think it was Masterdirect who said he hates Vitali because he changed his name from Vitology because Vitali is ashamed of his culture.
...so my point was that the HOF is full of fighters that changed their names to sound more American or whatnot even Marciano changed his name

Yes he did, and it's spelled Marvelous.

Kid Gavilan (Gerardo Gonzalez) took his ring moniker from the name of a store, "Gavilan General Merchandize".

**** Tiger (Richard Ihetu) WBA/WBC champ from Nigeria.

Willie Pep (Guglielmo Papaleo), all-time featherweight great. Had he kept his baptismal name, I dread to think how ring announcers would have handled it.

Sandy Saddler (Joseph or "Joey"), another great who is mentioned here because Pep is there. They're tweedledeedum and tweedledeedo in the history of featherweight boxing.

Spider Webb (Ellsworth Webb), a middlewieght from Chicago; lost to Gene Fullmer in a world title bid (NBA Middleweight)

Pancho Villa (Francisco Gilledo), a Filipino world featherweight champion, was given the ring name by his manager after the Mexican hero.

Flash Elorde (Gabriel Elorde), world jr. lightweight champion, took his name from the title of a radio news broadcast, "Flash Report".

Homecide Hank Armstrong who was born Henry Melody Jackson. Wonder how murderous his name would have sounded had he kept "Melody".

Edit: Thais are the most notorious for changing their names. Most take the names of their gyms or sponsors, thus, "3K Battery" or "Rakkiatgym".
