Comments Thread For: Brazil's Request To Review Olympic Final is Turned Down

SAO PAULO — The Brazilian Olympic Committee says boxing officials have turned down its request to review the result of the Olympic final.

The committee had asked officials to analyze the 75kg division final in which Esquiva Florentino Falcao lost 14-13 to Japanese boxer Ryoto Murata, but the International Boxing Association said Tuesday that there was not enough evidence to prompt a review.

The committee made the request after learning through Brazilian media that referee Mariusz Gorn of Poland told an official after the fight that he made a mistake and regretted giving Falcao a two-point penalty that eventually proved costly for the Brazilian. [Click Here To Read More]

      about London Olympics Boxing

      Feature and tendency in foul

      1.strict with a low blow
      2.strict with headbutt
      3.very loose with a holding

Murata was warned of a low blow with R16.He knew. He was so smaet, and he understood it immediately.Body shots is an important attack for Murata. He was forced to a strategic important modification.

Murata changed his style with quarterfinals. He reduced the direct heavy blow to the belt line. And excellent stamina of Murata becomes the menace for all opponents.

His opponents earned time by holding without exception.Murata sent eyes to a referee for heavy holding consistently and demanded the attention of the foul.

It is a strategy victory of Murata.

And the protest of Brazil is invalid.Because Brazil does not protect AIBA rule.

      9.11. Protests by AIBA Rules
      Official AIBA Rules Documents

9.11.1. A protest shall be submitted by the Team Leader or by the person having the highest position in the Team Delegation no later than 30 minutes after the completion of the bout. Any protest shall be against the decision(s) of the Referee and/or Judges of the bout.

"30 minutes after the completion of the bout"

How many days passed after finals was over?

      *Please correct it.
Ryoto = no good / Ryota = good

I didn't actually see this final but saw Falcao fight a couple of times and he was the best boxer I saw at the Olympics.
