Comments Thread For: Alexander Eyes Mayweather Opportunity After Bailey

Devon Alexander (23-1, 13KOs) is in the final stages of his training camp for his September 8th fight against IBF welterweight champion Randall Bailey (43-7, 37KOs).

The fight was originally slated to take place in Memphis, TN after Bailey balked at fighting in Alexander's hometown of St. Louis where he consistently draws big crowds. Scheduling conflicts forced the fight out of Memphis and after a few weeks of searching for a new venue it finally landed at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. [Click Here To Read More]

he couldn't beat Kotelnik, Bradley, or Lucas
no way he does anything with Floyd
won't be surprised if they fight though
it's a better comeback fight for Floyd than Guerrero

Maidana at WW, and Bailey are okay wins, especially since he's catching Bailey at least coming off a big win against a top 10 fighter, and Bailey himself is #7 at WW. But Alexander is not even top 10 at WW. A Bailey win would put him in the top 10. Floyd hasn't fought a fighter ranked lower than 3 since Zab Judah in 2006. So Alexander will have to beat either Zaveck, Malignaggi[WBA champion], or Brook to become top 3 and get Floyd's attention. Malignaggi is the obvious best opponent there, and he has a title which wouldn't hurt to get.

With that said Alexander>Guerrero, as an opponent for Floyd. But Canelo-Lopez winner>Alexander/Guerrero as a Floyd opponent. And Martinez>All.

Needs a couple more notable wins to earn a shot at Money May IMHO.

Floyd Mayweather would win every second against Alexander. Not a fight I'm interested in.

I would rate Alexander about the same as Guerrero neither guy has a shot in hell of beating Floyd unless Floyd fell off a cliff, I mean that literally~ Floyd would have to be laying in a heap after falling off a cliff for them to defeat him in a boxing contest.

For a comeback fight they would do, and it would be more fun to watch Floyd beat up either as opposed to him not fighting.
