Dirrell has it all to prove. The man is a waste of huge talent at the moment. He should have got the decision against Froch, but it's hard to feel sorry for him because of the way he fought - rarely has a fighter stunk out the joint more in his first shot at a title. Had Dirrell thrown more shots and shown real ring generalship instead of running, pot-shotting and holding, he'd have won comfortably. It was a naive tactic and hugely dispectful to the fans who'd paid good money to watch the fight. No one is saying he had to go toe-to-toe with Froch, but he could have fought with a little more heart.
We'll never know for a fact about his 'brain injury', but the entire affair has the pungent whiff of bull**** when you consider the information we have to hand. The most unbelievable part of the story to me wasn't the name of the doctor he saw, but the fact that any doctor would recommend a fighter with a brain injury ever fighting again. What kind of an unethical, backstreet quack would ever give his professional opinion that a fighter suffering from a brain injury should fight again in the near future?Comment

There are two relevant champions at 168, Ward and Froch. Froch is obviously the easier fighter and Dirrell already knows he can beat him. So it makes sense to take on Froch first and deal with Ward later(if he wants). Rather then fight Ward, lose, then have to build back up and challenge Froch.Comment
