Fights seems to be rushed. Back when boxing was big, mega bouts like Ali-Frazier, Leonard-Herns, Tyson-Holyfield or Hagler-Duran took place once a year. Today rematches are force fed to the point where they lose thier appeal. Consider that Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo will fight three times in nine months. As I always say If No. 1 always fights No. 2, you run out of No. 2's.

Often times the promoter will match a couple of fighters that the public is interested in paying big bucks for and can generate big PPV revenues regardless if other challengers are kept waiting. You don't have to be the #2 guy to get a shot, just a top guy with a good fan base.Comment
