I must say, for such a big guy his power seems average. I guess punching down takes some away from it, but he's like a 7" Ruiz, power level wise.

I`ve seen this guy fight a few times now and i dare to say that he might be more negative than Ruiz.
It will be interesting to see how Ruiz haddles himself with a guy that big but i fear a very boring long haul fight!

Valuev has some good skills. He actually lost to Donald at most by a round or two. He soundly outboxed Vidoz who is currently ranked in the top 10 by Boxrec.

Frankly, I think Larry Donald would have beaten Ruiz, Lamon Brewster (I like Brewster, but Brewster would not have KOed Donald), and possibly Byrd. Donald is very hard to fight -- he is a very good boxer, very elusive, and gutsy. As far as I am concerned, Donald has a better record than Brewster and Ruiz.

                    Donald has a terrific record:

                    http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=004892

He only once lost by a TKO to Vit Klichko and lost decisions to Kirk Johnson and Ri**** Bowe.

I always felt like punching down is a great leverage advantage. If you are lucky enough to hit a guy with a downward right hand following a left hook he just ducked, you probably got a hurt fighter in front of you. This coming from a short guy, but still, I would think the opposite.
