How is he not in contention? Josesito beating Ortiz was impressive because no one expected him to. In reality Ortiz is a B class fighter.

Vazquez and Mathebula are legitimate champions/contenders.

Nishioka is the best 122 pounder in boxing.

Thats 3 quality wins in one year if he can pull it off

Mares last 3 fights were against better opposition and im not calling him a candidate for FiOTY.

And Morel may be a ******er but the MF can box. Lots of cats avoided him before his stint in jail because he could hit and move. Not exactly an easy guy to beat. Underrated for sure.

If dawson beats Ward it's clearly his. Bhop is old but a real legend and he(Dawson) is the first person to legitly beat him since Roy Jones in 1993 and ward is the reining fighter of the year. How would that not be enough to win it this year.

If JCC wins against Sergio, be it decision or by way of KO, then he gets my vote.

Donaire only if he outclasses, demolishes, or KTFO Nishi.. which i doubt..

If Lopez beats Alvarez, he could get it. Wins over Ortiz and Alvarez jumping up big in weight both times.

If Dawson beats Ward, he could get it. Wins over Hopkins to get the lineal LHW title, and over Ward for the lineal SMW title.

The Chavez-Martinez winner too. Chavez with solid wins over Rubio and Lee, and a win over #3 P4P Martinez. Martinez with wins over two Top MW's in Macklin and Chavez.

Donaire with a decent win over Vazquez, solid unifying win over Mathebula, and a win over the top SBW in Nishioka for the lineal title would be a good year too though.

I don't get it..

Mares last 3 fights:

1. Morel - April 2012
2-3. Agbeko - August and Dec. 2011.

Mares only had 1 fight in 2012 while in 2011 he fought Agbeko twice, wherein it was a fix, he couldn't get his hands off Agbeko's balls. A shame that ref mora was much of a **** too because he never warned or penalized Mares.

Morel and Agbeko more stiffer competition than Nishioka and Vasquez Jr.? Even it's Nishi alone, he far outclasses those 3 fighters. GTFO

Calling Nishi mediocre? you might as well call Mares as a tomato can.
