Why did you list the total medals? If you look at just gold this is what the Eastern Bloc managed to do with the US not being there:Eastern Bloc...
Cuba 6 Gold 10 total
USSR 1 Gold 8 total
East Germany 6
Bulgaria 2
Poland 5
Hungary 2
Czechoslovakia 1
If every country besides the USSR participated in 1980 and Cuba, Poland, East Germany, Bulgaria were there i'm sure the US medal count would look the same as it did lol
USSR 1
East Germany 1
Bulgaria 1
Poland 1
Yugoslavia 1
If USA Boxing had participated in the Moscow games it's not hard at all to picture the USSR winning 0 golds. Especially with the caliber of boxers we had back then.Last edited by ShoulderRoll; 08-12-2012, 04:08 AM.Leave a comment:

Its all good. In all honestly Im really not up on any kind of political talk, its just not my thing.
Love your Jirov sig, he was one of my favorite fighters. I had the pleasure of watching him from ringside against Toney. Although he lost I always considered it his best and gutsiest performance.Leave a comment:

Yes you're right that refers to the Eastern and Central European Warsaw Pact members. Communist Bloc would be more fitting to describe the boycott since other communist countries and Soviet allies like Cuba and North Korea also participated.Leave a comment:

Am I wrong or is Cuba considered only an ally and not an eastern block country?Leave a comment:

Compare it to how the Soviet Union dominated the 1980 Olympics where the US boycotted....oh wait, they only won 1 boxing gold medal.

Wilder was supposed to play as a power forward for Alabama Crimson Tide. Basketball was his favorite sport as a kid, but supposedly the birth of his daughter led him into boxing at a local community college so he would have time for her.Leave a comment:

It wouldn't have helped Warren and i can't help but think of Marcus Browne. Alot of people were saying that he was the best guy on the US team but he won the first 2 rounds against Hooper by fighting in a "amateur" style and in the 3rd when Hooper applied a little pressure and actually started punching Browne in the face he completely fell apart.Leave a comment:

It would help if kids had any incentive whatsoever to box from an early age.
But whatever, Olympic boxing is so f***ing corrupt, every country could probably complain that at least one of their fighters got screwed over this year. Next time the Olympics are in the United States, they can be rigged our way.Leave a comment:
